Some four-thousand people will gather at Seoul Plaza next month to take part in “kimjang,” the annual tradition of making a large amount of kimchi ahead of the winter season.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced Thursday that the third Seoul Kimchi Festival will take place from November fourth to the sixth at Seoul Plaza and major roads in the capital in a bid to promote the culture of kimjang which is on UNESCO's list of intangible cultural heritages.

On the day of the festival's launch , participants from all around the world will gather at the plaza and make some 50 tons of kimchi. The kimchi will be delivered to families in need via the Seoul Council on Social Welfare.
