S. Korea Seeks to Create New Movie Rating for Children Aged Under 7

South Korea seeks to create a new movie rating for audiences aged seven or older.

The Korea Media Rating Board said on Wednesday that it will hold a related public hearing on Monday at the Korea Press Center in downtown Seoul to collect opinions from diverse groups.

South Korea’s film rating system includes a G rating for general audiences, ratings for those aged 12 or older and 15 or older, but no specific rating for children under the age of 12.

Most advanced countries like Germany and the Netherlands have diverse ratings including a PG rating, which stands for Parental Guidance.

The rating board says it will discuss ways to introduce a new rating for those aged seven or older.
