First Cold Advisory of This Year's Fall Issued in Seoul

A sudden wave of frigid temperatures took hold of the nation on Tuesday.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration(KMA), cold wave advisories were issued for the first time this fall in Seoul and the northern Gyeonggi areas.

A KMA official said that the daytime high in the central area will hover around ten degrees Celsius on Tuesday, adding that the mercury will peak similarly on Wednesday.

The official also said the wind chill will make conditions feel chillier and that cold wave advisories are expected to be further expanded.

A cold wave advisory is put in place when the morning low on a day between October and April falls ten degrees Celsius or more from the previous day, is lower than the three-degree mark and is expected to be lower by at least three degrees than the average seasonal norm.

It is also issued when morning lows are lower than minus 12 degrees Celsius for a second consecutive day.
