Gov't to Revoke Admission of Choi Soon-sil's Daughter to College

The government will demand Ewha Womans University to revoke its 2015 decision to admit Choi Soon-sil's daughter into its undergraduate program.

The Education Ministry on Friday announced the result of its special audit, which found that Chung Yoo-ra was given undue favors by the private women’s university in the admission and grading processes.

Based on the audit results, the ministry will request Ewha to cancel Chung’s admission and to penalize professors who were involved in granting Chung special treatment.

The ministry is also planning to press charges against related professors for disrupting duties and summon for questioning Chung and her mother, as well as the university’s former president, Choi Kyung-hee.

To sanction the university over the irregularities, the ministry is considering slashing government funds for some of the school's projects.
