S. Korean Skater Kim Bo-reum Wins 2nd Gold Medal of Season

South Korean speed skater Kim Bo-reum has won her second international gold medal this year at a major season event sanctioned by the International Skating Union(ISU).

Kim won the 1,500-meter women’s mass start of the fourth ISU World Cup held at Thialf Arena in Heerenveen in the Netherlands on Sunday.

She crossed the finish line first in times of eight minutes 31-point-73 seconds, pushing aside Irene Schouten of the Netherlands by zero-point-09 seconds. Italian Francesca Lollobrigida came in third zero-point-01 seconds behind.

In the men’s 1,500-meter mass start event, South Korean Lee Seung-hoon finished second, trailing Joey Mantia of the U.S. by zero-point-34 seconds. Lee clocked eight minutes five-point-94 seconds, zero-point-46 seconds ahead of third-place Evert Hoolwerf of the Netherlands.
