A group of South Korean lawmakers submitted a resolution to the National Assembly Thursday calling for the immediate release of Myanmar's detained opposition leader Aung Sang Suu Kyi.

In the resolution, the 30 lawmakers, headed by Rep. Kim Seong-ho of the ruling Millennium Democratic Party, called on Myanmar's military junta to put an end to its political oppression of the Nobel Peace Prize laureate.

Kim said he and his fellow lawmakers are aiming to pass the resolution before the end of this month before sending it to the Myanmar government.
