Theater director Yang Jung-ung has been chosen to direct the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games.
 
Organizers of the Pyeongchang Games said Monday that Yang was chosen by executive creative director Song Seung-hwan.
 
Yang is the head of Yohangza Theatre Company known for modern reinterpretations of William Shakespeare's classic works like "A Midsummer Night's Dream,” "Twelfth Night” and “Romeo and Juliet.”

Another theater director, Koh Sun-woong, will be the chief producer of the opening and closing ceremonies for the Pyeongchang Paralympics.
 
Yang and Koh will be officially appointed in January.
