Gov't to Build Permanent S. Korean Fashion Showroom in New York

The government plans to secure a permanent spot in New York to promote the country’s fashion design industry.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said in a 2017 policy briefing on Friday that it will build a fashion showroom in big apple this year.

The ministry said the showroom, to be built with the budget of two billion won, or one-point-seven million U.S. dollars, will feature and sell brands and products of South Korean designers.

It will particularly focus on introducing new designers and helping them in the global sales and marketing of their products.

The ministry said the move will not only help expand exports of South Korean fashion items but also spread the Korean culture boom Hallyu, adding it also plans to hold Hallyu-related fashion events and exhibitions at the venue.
