Institute for Korean Studies Launched at GWU

The George Washington University(GWU) on Thursday officially launched an Institute for Korean Studies in a move to promote Korean humanities and research in the nation’s capital and beyond.

The school in Washington D.C. announced that the institute aims to strengthen and grow the school's existing Korean Studies program.

In 1983, the GWU adopt Korean Language as an official discipline.

Since 2000 with the support from the Korea Foundation, the university has set up three endowed professorships on Korean studies comprising history, politics and humanities.
