Despite the reverberating effects of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), South Korea's exports to China have increased considerably this year.

According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Korea International Trade Association Monday, exports to China as of May this year were worth US$12.39 billion, a 48.3 percent increase from the same period a year ago.

The trade surplus exceeded $4 billion, reaching 63 percent of last year's largest trade surplus to date, and is expected to set a new record this year.
