South Korea, Taiwan and Japan are said to be preparing to hold a three-way baseball competition in November this year.
Korea Baseball Organization(KBO) Secretary-General Yang Hae-young told Yonhap News Agency Thursday that related discussions among the three sides are running smoothly and that the final plan will be revealed next week.
Japan’s Sports Nippon reported Thursday that the countries are discussing resuming the three-way baseball competition at the initiative of the Nippon Professional Baseball Organization. The Japanese newspaper added that during a meeting on Wednesday afternoon, the heads of the baseball organizations from the three sides were positive about holding a match in November.
South Korea, Taiwan and Japan held an Asian baseball series until 2013. But the trilateral competition has remained suspended since 2014 due to falling popularity and a lack of sponsorships.
