S. Korea Placed in Group B for 2018 AFC Women’s Asian Cup Preliminaries

South Korea has been placed in Group B, where it will take on North Korea, Uzbekistan, Hong Kong and India in the preliminaries for the 2018 AFC Women’s Asian Cup football tournament.

The North Korean capital city Pyongyang will host all preliminaries of the group in April this year. The South Korean women’s football team will face off with India on April fifth, North Korea on the seventh, Hong Kong on the ninth and Uzbekistan on the eleventh.

Ranking tenth on FIFA, the North Korean women’s squad is assessed to be stronger than the South Korean team.

As the 2018 Asian Cup serves as a preliminary for the 2019 Women’s World Cup, only the first-placed team of the group will have a chance to aim for a ticket to the FIFA tournament.

South Korea is said to be at a disadvantage as it has to play all the preliminaries in the North Korean capital.
