Team Korea Changes Lodging over Right-wing Books in APA Hotel Japan

Team Korea has switched hotel accommodations ahead of the Sapporo Asian Winter Games because of controversial material found in the rooms.

The APA Hotel has been under fire for providing books in its lobby and rooms that reject Japan's forced sexual enslavement of the so-called “comfort women.”

The Korean Sport and Olympic Committee said the presence of the books goes against the Charter of the Olympic Council of Asia.

Article 36 stipulates that no kind of demonstration, political, religious or racial propaganda be permitted at sports venues.

Although the Sapporo games organizing committee accepted the demand to remove the books, Team Korea decided to move its athletes to the Sapporo Prince Hotel so they can concentrate better on the games.

The Asian Winter Games will be held from February 19th to the 26th.
