Cabinet Members Begin to Wear Pyeongchang Olympics Badge

The members of the South Korean Cabinet have decided to wear a badge representing the Pyeongchang Olympic and Paralympic Games during every Cabinet meeting leading up to the events taking place next year.

Acting President Hwang Kyo-ahn and all other Cabinet members wore the Pyeongchang memorabilia badge on their chests for the first time during a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said it is a "pan-government measure" aimed at creating a celebratory mood ahead of the country's first-ever Winter Olympics. Its aim is also to foster cooperation among the different government agencies assisting with the preparations and the hosting of the event.

During a related ministerial meeting last Thursday, the ministers pledged to work with the organizing committee for the Pyeongchang Olympics and the Gangwon Provincial Office in various areas regarding the Olympics, such as promotion, education, transportation, medical and immigration services.
