South Korea has sprung back to the top of the leaderboard at the Sapporo Asian Games by adding six gold medals on Wednesday.
Speed skater Lee Seung-hoon won two golds, each from the men’s 10-thousand-meter event and the team pursuit event, becoming the only triple gold medalist so far during the Sapporo Games.
Kim Bo-reum also won gold in the women’s five-thousand-meter speed skating event.
Short track speed skater Shim Suk-hee brought home gold from the women’s 1,000-meter event and then added another in the 3,000-meter relay, with her teammates Choi Min-jeong, Kim Ji-yoo and Noh Do-hee.
Seo Yi-ra added another gold in short track, winning the men’s 1,000-meter event.
Cumulatively, South Korea has won 12 gold medals during the first four days at the eight-day sporting event, including five from short track speed skating, and four from speed skating.
Team Korea is aiming to finish runner-up at Sapporo in gold medal standings.
