Nation's First Arm Transplant Patient Leaves Hospital

South Korea's first arm transplant patient has been discharged from the hospital, and says he looks forward to throwing a baseball soon.

The man in his 30s was operated on at Yeungnam University Medical Center in Daegu early this month to attach a left forearm and hand from a brain-dead donor patient.

Lead surgeon Woo Sang-hyun says it will take time for nerves and ligaments to regenerate, and the patient's main focus should be controlling inflammation and watching for rejection symptoms.

The patient says his transplanted hand felt awkward at first, but is slowly beginning to feel more and more like his own.
