South Korean organizers of next year's PyeongChang Winter Olympics and the Paralympic Games have announced the launch of cooperation projects with Olympic organizers of China and Japan.

Representatives of the three countries met Friday to discuss cooperation in many areas including staff exchange, training of interpreters and a joint public relations booth at the PyeongChang Olympic Plaza.

Korea's two neighbors are also preparing to host future Olympics of their own, with Tokyo hosting the 2020 Summer Games and Beijing the 2022 Winter Olympics.

PyeongChang organizers expressed hope the trilateral cooperation will leave a lasting legacy for sports in East Asia.
