North Korea has formally applied to send a team to a women's ice hockey tournament hosted in South Korea next week.

The Unification Ministry in Seoul is considering whether to approve the application, which was submitted Tuesday via the International Ice Hockey Federation(IIHF).

The North proposes sending a delegation of 20 athletes along with ten coaches and staff members from April first to ninth, arriving via a third country.

The Women's World Championship Division II Group A, a test event for the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, is scheduled to take place in Gangneung, Gangwon Province.
