Son Heung-min Breaks Personal Single-season Scoring Record

South Korean striker Son Heung-min of Tottenham Hotspur scored two goals on Saturday to set a personal best for the number of goals in a single season.

Son scored his tenth and eleventh regular season goals in a match against Watford in the 2016-2017 season of the English Premier League held at White Hart Lane in northeast London.

With Saturday’s two goals, Son has become the first Asian player to score more than ten goals during the regular league matches of a season.

Including his goals in the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League, Son has scored 18 goals so far during the season, setting a personal best.

Son is now only one goal shy of Cha Bum-kun’s single season record by a South Korean, who scored 19 goals with Leverkusen in all competitions in the 1985-1986 season.
