Bulgarian schools are set to adopt Taekwondo as a regular school subject.
According to the World Taekwondo Federation(WTF) on Monday, Bulgarian Vice President Iliana Iotova said during a meeting with WTF President Choue Chung-won that she will spare no effort for Taekwondo to be included in the regular curriculum of Bulgarian schools.
Choue’s meeting with Iotova came as he was in Bulgaria to watch the European Under 21 Taekwondo Championships that was held in Sofia, Bulgaria between last Thursday and Sunday.
During the meeting, Iotova said that she will seek to open a WTF Taekwondo training center in Bulgaria soon as part of efforts to promote Taekwondo in eastern Europe.
Bulgaria is aiming to compete in Taekwondo events for the first time in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. As part of such efforts, it is preparing a bid to host the 2018 Taekwondo World Grand Prix Final.
