Top Nuke Envoys of S. Korea, China Discuss N. Korean Nuke Issue

Top nuclear envoys of South Korea and China held talks in Seoul on Monday to discuss the North Korean nuclear issue.

South Korea’s Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs Kim Hong-kyun met with his Chinese counterpart Wu Dawei at the Foreign Ministry building.

The Chinese envoy reportedly shared what was discussed about the North Korean nuclear issue at the U.S.-China summit. It's believed Wu also explained the current mood in Beijing regarding the deployment of a U.S. THAAD antimissile system.

It is also likely the two envoys covered ways to deal with provocations from the North such as a nuclear test.

Attention is focused on how China will respond after the U.S. signaled that is will deal with the North Korean nuclear issue unilaterally if Beijing does not help.
