S. Korea World's 3rd Largest Exporter of Broadcasting Content

South Korea is the world’s third largest exporter of broadcasting content after the United States and Britain.

Data by the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications released Tuesday shows the U.S. was the largest exporter in 2015, selling 21-point-three billion U.S. dollars worth of broadcasting content.

Britain was second with three-point-three billion dollars, followed by South Korea with 320 million dollars, while Japan came in fourth at 238 million dollars.

Japan has been posting sharp increases annually from 68 billion won in 2010 to 187 billion won in 2014. In 2015, its exports jumped by 58 percent thanks to the popularity of Japanese animation.

The Japanese government plans to increase exports of broadcasting content to roughly 450 million U.S. dollars by 2020 to overtake South Korea.
