Exhibition on Sounds of Hangeul Kicks Off in LA

To celebrate the 620th birthday of King Sejong, the Korean Cultural Center in Los Angeles and the National Hangeul Museum have launched a special exhibition in LA called, Sounds x Hangeul: Variation of the Korean Alphabet.

Divided into two phases, dubbed Hangeul Embracing the Sounds and Sound x Design, the exhibition compares the Hangeul and English alphabet and shows King Sejong’s reasoning behind the creation of the Korean alphabet.

The exhibition also aims to showcase the phonemic traits of Korean characters and the aesthetic value of the alphabet

The exhibition will display works of graphic art, furniture, and accessories which represent how the various meanings and sounds of Hangeul are formed and how the basic eight letters of Hangeul are expanded.
