South Korean boy band BTS has become the first K-pop group to win a Billboard Music Award.
The seven-member group accepted the Top Social Artist award during the 2017 Billboard Music Awards at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Sunday, beating big-name American competitors, such as Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande and Shawn Mendes.
The Billboard Awards are given to artists with notable records over the past year in album and digital songs sales, streaming, radio airplay, touring and social engagement as well as through fan votes.
After receiving a trophy onstage from U.S. social media star Logan Paul, BTS member “Rap Monster” said the group feels unbelievably honored, adding they will work harder.
Four successive BTS albums were all ranked within Billboard 200 charts beginning with the “Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Part 2” released in December of 2012, making the K-pop group the first to achieve this feat.
