Anchor: South Korean sensation BTS, have become the first K-Pop group to win a Billboard Music Award. The seven-member group scooped the award for Top Social Artist at a ceremony in Las Vegas on Sunday beating out huge stars like Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande.

South Korean boy band BTS has become the first K-pop group to win a Billboard Music Award.
The seven-member group accepted the Top Social Artist award during the 2017 Billboard Music Awards at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Sunday, beating big-name competitors, such as Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande and Shawn Mendes.
After receiving a trophy onstage from U.S. social media star Logan Paul, BTS member “Rap Monster” said the group feels unbelievably honored, adding they will work harder.

“We still cannot believe that we’re standing here on this stage at the Billboard Music Awards, oh my gosh. And it is so great to see all the artists we admire and feel honored to be in this category with such great artists, you know like right in front of us, it’s really an honor. “
The Billboard Awards are given to artists with notable records over the past year in album and digital songs sales, streaming, radio airplay, touring and social engagement as well as through fan votes.

Four successive BTS albums were all ranked within Billboard 200 charts beginning with the “Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Part 2” released in December of 2012, making the K-pop group the first to achieve this feat.
However, they are not the first South Koreans to win a Billboard Music Award. In 2013, Psy won the award for Top Streaming Song(Video).
