Report: Team Korea has won two matches in a row in the qualifiers and has secured a place in the final 16 of the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
In their second match of Group A at Jeonju World Cup Stadium, Lee Seung-woo and Paik Seung-ho each scored a goal for the host team in the first half.
Argentina managed to slightly close the gap with a single goal in the second half when Marcelo Torres scored.
However, while football powerhouse Argentina tried hard to turn the tide, team Korea held them at bay until the closing whistle.
It is the first time in four years that South Korea has clinched a place in the round of 16 at the FIFA U-20 World Cup which is held every two years.
In the Turkey edition in 2013, the Korean squad advanced to as far as the quarterfinals, but failed to qualify in 2015.
On Friday, the team faces its last remaining match of Group A against England, which beat Argentina three nil last Saturday.
South Korea already beat Guinea 3-0 in its first match if the tournament.
Regardless of that outcome, the young team has already secured a spot in the next round of 16.
