Former U.S. Secretary of State Kissinger to Visit Korea

Officials said Wednsday that former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger will arrive in Seoul Friday to attend a ceremony marking the 50th anniversary of the armistice agreement that ended the Korean War (1950-53).

The event is scheduled to be held Sunday at the truce village of Panmunjeom, commemorating the July 27 signing of the cease-fire agreement 50 years ago.

Approximately 2,500 people are expected to attend the ceremony, including some 900 Korean War veterans from 16 countries that formed the U.S.-led coalition against the invading North Koreans.
