Tennis Player Advances to 3rd Round of French Open

Rising South Korean tennis star Chung Hyeon will face Japan's Kei Nishikori in the third round of the French Open.

Chung advanced to the final group of 32 after blitzing Uzbekistan's Denis Istomin in a men’s single event at the Roland Garros Stadium on Thursday in Paris, France.

As a result, the South Korean player has progressed to the third round of the Grand Slam tournament for the first time.

He is also the first South Korean player to achieve the feat in almost ten years after Lee Hyung-taik reached the third round of the U.S. Open in 2007.

Nishikori is currently ranked world number nine, the highest ranking recorded by an Asian male player. He has won eleven male singles titles of the Association of Tennis Professionals(ATP) World Tour.
