Hansan Ramie Fabric Festival to Kick Off

The 28th Hansan Ramie Fabric Festival will kick off in its home region on Friday.

The opening ceremony of the festival will be held at seven p.m. in Hansan-myeon, Seocheon County in South Chungcheong Province.

During the four-day festival, visitors will be able to observe and experience the entire process of the South Korean tradition of weaving fine ramie cloth, or mosi as it is been called in the region. The organizers will also hold a fashion show displaying mosi clothes during the event.

Weaving of mosi in the Hansan region was registered on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2011.
