Two previously conjoined baby sisters from South Korea were in good condition Wednesday after undergoing separation surgery the previous day.
Singaporean doctors who conducted the surgery said the four-month-old twins, Min Sa-rang and Min Ji-hye, spent a cozy night in separate beds after Tuesday's successful procedure by a team of doctors.
However, according to the parents, the total medical costs including post-surgery treatment is expected to reach at least 1 billion won.
The news report on the successful separation of the twin girls prompted a series of donations by citizens keen on helping the family.
The Child Protection Fund had collected 20 million won as of 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, while an Internet site (http://cafe.daum.net/lovewisdom) had received 16 million won as of Tuesday night.
