Heatwave advisories were issued for Seoul and other regions across the nation.

The Korea Meteorological Administration(KMA) issued heat warnings in the capital city Seoul, and seven cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province at eleven a.m. on Friday.

A KMA official said that the first heatwave advisory of this year was issued in Seoul, advising people to avoid outdoor activities and drink lots of water.

Heat alerts are also in effect in the central and southern regions of the nation, including the Sejong administrative city, Gwangju, North Chungcheong Province, Jeolla provinces and South Gyeongsang Province.

With heatwave warnings in place, the Ministry of Public Security and Safety sent out emergency text messages cautioning against possible heat-related damages on Friday morning.
