French Team First to Arrive for Muju World Taekwondo Championships

The French team was the first to arrive in South Korea for this year's Taekwondo World Championships opening in Muju, North Jeolla Province on June 24th.

Fifty-six athletes from five countries including France, Canada, the Netherlands, Spain and Tunisia all arrived in Muju on Saturday ahead of the week-long World Taekwondo Federation's World Taekwondo Championships.

Muju County officials including Mayor Hwang Jeong-su held a welcoming ceremony for the French team, the first guests, and delivered flowers. 

The tournament will take place at the Taekwondowon center in Muju through June 30th. A record of over 17-hundred participants are taking part this year including 971 athletes from 183 countries.
