Representatives from the British Army took part in a ceremony commemorating the 50th anniversary of the end of the Korean War on Saturday.

On hand were some 150 people, including British veterans of the war and Ivor Caplin, British minister for veterans' affairs.

The ceremony was held in front of the Monument to the Memory of Gloucestershire Combat in Paju, Gyeonggi Province where the British Gloucestershire Battalion successfully deterred large numbers of Chinese troops from advancing in 1951.

A total of 22,000 British soldiers fought alongside allied forces during the Korean War. More than one thousand were killed in action.
