S. Korea's Jeong Yun-jo Wins Surprise Gold in Taekwondo Championships

South Korea's Jeong Yun-jo won a surprise gold medal in the men's under-58 kilogram event at the 2017 World Taekwondo Championships in Muju, North Jeolla Province on Wednesday. 

The 21-year-old is ranked 105th in the world, but stunned top-ranked Mexican Carlos Navarro in the semifinals and beat 19th-ranked Mikhail Artamonov of Russia in the final.

Three gold medals were awarded at the championships on Wednesday.
  
The U.K.'s Bianca Walkden earned a gold in the women's over-73 kilogram event and Turkey's Zeliha Agris captured gold in the women's under-53 kilogram event.
 
As of Wednesday, South Korea ranks first in the overall medal standings with four gold medals and two bronze medals. The seven-day championships end on Friday.
