The stars of KBS' 2016 hit drama "Descendants of the Sun" announced their plan to marry in October.
 
The announcement was made Wednesday by Blossom Entertainment and United Artist Agency(UAA), the companies representing Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-gyo.
 
Fans were unsuspecting as the pair have flatly denied news reports that they were dating.
 
Their agents explained the situation demanded prudence as marriage is a joining of not just two people but of two families.
 
The two top stars played a soldier-doctor couple in the hit KBS 2TV series set in the fictional war-torn country of Uruk. 
 
They jointly won the top honors at the KBS Drama Awards last year.
