The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on Thursday that around 30 events introducing South Korea’s culture and arts will take place throughout Britain from this month through June of next year.
The ministry said that the events are scheduled to mark 2017 and 2018 as years of mutual exchange between South Korea and Britain. The designation came as part of efforts for South Korea and Britain to solidify future-oriented ties through expanded exchanges in culture and arts.
On Saturday, the London Korea Festival will open at Olympia National exhibition center in the British capital. The festival will introduce South Korea’s culture, arts, tourism packages, and the PyeongChang 2018 Olympics and Paralympics.
The festival will feature a wide variety of programs related to traditional culture including Korean food and taekwondo, as well as to popular culture including K-Pop. Exhibition halls and venues where visitors can experience Korean culture will also be set up.
Between Friday and Saturday, an event named "Feel Korea in London," will take place featuring performances by top K-Pop stars and communities of hallyu fans in Britain. Free dance classes will also be provided.
