The 21st Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival kicked off on Thursday.

Culture Minister Do Jong-hwan, Gyeonggi Governor Nam Kyung-pil and about three thousand people attended the opening ceremony at the lawn square in front of Bucheon City Hall.

The country’s largest genre film festival will screen 289 films from 58 countries this year, which is similar to 302 of last year. But the number of South Korean films sharply increased from 65 last year to 109 this year.

The eleven-day festival will run through July 23rd across the city.
