Safety Ministry Issues Heat Advisories and Warnings Wednesday Morning

Most of South Korea is under heat advisories, and some heat warnings, as the monsoon has given way to sweltering summer heat.

The Ministry of Public Safety and Security and the Korea Meteorological Administration(KMA) on Wednesday issued heatwave advisories in the capital Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi Province regions and eleven areas in both South Jeolla and Gangwon Province, while the majority of the southeastern Gyeongsang Provinces is under a heat warning.

An advisory is issued when afternoon highs of 33 degrees Celsius or higher are forecast to continue for two consecutive days while a heatwave warning is issued when daytime highs of 35 degrees and above are expected to continue for two days.

The KMA said that daily highs will hover above 33 degrees for the time being with tropical nights occurring in some areas.

It urged citizens to take safety precautions accordingly.
