S. Korea Wins 3 Gold at Deaflympics in Turkey

Team Korea has clinched its first gold medal at the 2017 Deaflympics underway in Samsun, Turkey.

South Korean athletes won three gold, three silver and two bronze medals during events on Saturday.

The very first gold came in the men's 25 meter pistol. Kim Tae-yeong advanced to the final round in first place with a world record of 569 points.

He earned 32 points more in the finals to finish on top with his Ukrainian rival six points behind.

In men's judo, Kim Min-seok also took gold in the 81-kilogram competition, and in bowling, the Korean team swept gold, silver and bronze.

South Korea ranks fourth in the overall tally so far, with three gold, five silver and four bronze medals at this year's Deaflympics, which is the world games for the deaf.
