Park Tae-hwan Finishes Fourth in 400m Freestyle at World Championships

South Korean swimmer Park Tae-hwan has failed to win a medal at the world championships, after competing at the event for the first time in six years.

Park clocked in at three minutes 44-point-38 seconds and finished fourth in the men’s 400-meter freestyle final at the 2017 FINA World Aquatics Championships in Budapest, Hungary on Sunday.

Sun Yang of China finished first with a time of three minutes 41-point-38 seconds, winning the world title for the third consecutive time.

Park, the 2008 Olympic gold medalist in the 400-meter freestyle, has also won two world titles, in 2007 in Melbourne and 2011 in Shanghai. The 2011 event was Park's last world championships.

A victory in Budapest would have been a redemption for Park, who missed the 2013 event in Spain due to injury, and missed the 2015 Russia event while serving an 18-month suspension for doping.
