An Sets Korean Record, Park Advances to Final at FINA Championships

Swimmer An Se-hyeon has set a South Korean record and finished fifth in the 100 meter butterfly finals at the 2017 FINA World Aquatics Championships currently under way in Budapest, Hungary.

An's fifth place finish with a time of 57-point-07 seconds is considered by far the best performance for a South Korean female at the championships.

The previous record was set by Lee Nam-eun when she finished eighth in the women's 50 meters backstroke during the Montreal games in 2005.

Also, Kim Seo-yeong ranked sixth among eight contestants in the final round of the women's 200 meter individual medley in the current championships.

On the men's side, Park Tae-hwan has advanced to the 200 meter freestyle finals which will take place Wednesday morning as the Korean swim star eyes his first championship medal in ten years in this event.
