Typhoon Noru Expected to Affect Korea Monday

A powerful typhoon is expected to affect southeastern parts of South Korea around Monday.

The Korea Meteorological Administration said on Friday that Typhoon Noru with wind speeds of up to 144 kilometers per hour will move up from Okinawa in Japan on Friday and Saturday and reach 470 kilometers southeast of Seogwipo on Jeju Island early Sunday morning.

The typhoon is then expected to take a turn and land on the western parts of Kyushu Island on Monday morning before reaching the East Sea.

The weather agency forecast heavy rains, strong winds and high waves for the southeastern parts of the country and the coastal areas, calling for thorough preparations to prevent damages.
