Recently Returned Joseon Royal Seals to be Put on Display

Two Joseon Dynasty royal seals will be made public following their return from the U.S. last month.

The National Palace Museum said on Friday that it will hold a special exhibition from Saturday to October 29th of all Joseon Dynasty royal seals retrieved from the U.S. since 2014.

The exhibits will include the seals of Queen Munjeong and King Hyeonjong, which returned home in July this year after being illegally taken out of Korea at an unknown time and ending up in the U.S.

The returned seal of Queen Munjeong will be placed together with her two other seals for the first time in roughly 60 years.

The museum will also host lectures on the stories of the retrieved seals and new approaches to addressing the issue of the nation’ stolen cultural treasures.
