The South Korean movie “A Taxi Driver” has surpassed ten million tickets sold, becoming the first movie this year to reach this achievement.

According to the film’s distributor Showbox, the total attendance of the movie reached ten million and 68-thousand-700 as of 8 a.m. Sunday, topping the ten million milestone 19 days after its release on August second.

The film starring Song Kang-ho became the 15th Korean movie and 19th movie of all time to surpass the milestone at the Korean box office.

"Train to Busan," which sold eleven-point-56 million tickets last year, was the latest film to reach the ten million plateau.

Directed by Jang Hoon, “A Taxi Driver” describes the experiences of a Seoul City cab driver who incidentally gets involved in the 1980 Gwangju Uprising while taking a German journalist to the southwestern city.
