Parties Regret Chung's Death, Hope for Minimum Economic Impact

Major political parties expressed deep regrets Monday at the suicide of Hyundai executive Chung Mong-hun and expressed hope that his passing will not adversely affect ongoing inter-Korean economic cooperation.

Ruling Millennium Democratic Party spokesman Moon Seok-ho said in a commentary, "We deeply regret that Chung, a corporate businessmen representing South Korea, has passed away, leaving many tasks unfulfilled."

Moon added his hope that Chung's death will not affect inter-Korean economic cooperation and that it will have a minimum impact on the national economy.

Main opposition Grand National Party also expressed deep regrets at Chung's death and called for a thorough investigation on the circumstances surrounding his suicide.
