5th BICF Opens for 10-day Run

The fifth Busan International Comedy Festival (BICF) opened for a ten-day run in South Korea’s port city with an opening ceremony on Friday night.

The event, which is the first and largest comedy festival in Asia, will feature a wide variety of performances, circus act and concerts by 51 teams of performers from eleven countries.

The performances will be staged in a number of venues in Busan, including the Busan Cinema Center, Haeundae Grand Hotel and the Design Center Busan.

Among the international performances scheduled to provide laughter are “Mario Queen of the Circus,” which is a comedy/juggling one man show, “Pss Pss” in which two clowns perform acrobatics and other circus acts, and a show by Japan’s top mime duo, “Gamarjobat.”

On Saturday and Sunday, 15 teams will perform outside in Gwangalli for two hours starting from nine p.m.
