S. Korean Writer Han Kang Wins Malaparte Prize for

South Korean writer Han Kang has been selected as this year’s winner of the renowned Malaparte Prize.
 
The organizers of Italy's authoritative literary award announced that this year’s prize was going to Han for her 2014 novel "Human Acts."
 
Raffaele la Capria, a member of the prize’s jury, said that the lively images depicted in the novel are enticing and hook readers completely.
 
“Human Acts” is set on the May 18th Gwangju Uprising. It is the story of a middle school student who dies in the democratic movement and the people in the student’s life.
 
The Malaparte Prize was established in 1983 in memory of the Italian writer Curzio Malaparte who is well known for the work “Coup D'etat: The Technique of revolution.”
 
The prize is given out to foreign writers who have breathed new life into world literature through their remarkable work.
