S. Koreans Win Six Gold Medals at Short Track World Cup

South Korea’s Choi Min-jeong has swept all four gold medals up for grabs in women’s competitions at the International Skating Union’s World Cup Short Track in Budapest, Hungary.

The 19-year-old Choi won the one-thousand-meter event and the three-thousand-meter event on Sunday, adding to the two golds she earned on Saturday from the five-hundred-meter event and the one-thousand-500-meter event.

In the one-thousand-meter final, she came in at one-minute-34-point-660 seconds, beating Canada’s Kim Boutin by zero-point-139 seconds.

She won the three-thousand-meter relay together with teammates, Shim Suk-hee, Kim A-lang, and Kim Ye-jin at the combined times of 4:08.393, also ahead of Canada’s 4:10.382. 

South Korean men also brought home two gold medals from Budapest, with Lim Hyo-jun winning the men’s one-thousand-five-hundred event on Sunday, after the victory in the one-thousand-meter title a day earlier.
