North Chungcheong Province, located in the mid-region of the country, will stop raising ducks for the winter in farms that were affected by or within proximity of previous avian influenza outbreaks. 

Beginning on October 23rd, some 869-thousand ducks will be prevented from going to market across 86 establishments, including ten in the city of Cheongju, 31 in Jincheon County and 45 in Eumseong County.

Farmers will be compensated with 510 won per duck, until March next year, when the measure will be lifted.
