Minor Earthquake Detected from Area Near N. Korean Nuclear Site

A minor earthquake with magnitude two-point-seven was reported near the North Korean nuclear test site in Kilju early Friday.

Seoul's Korea Meteorological Administration(KMA) said that the tremor was detected at 1:41 a.m. Friday about 54 kilometers north-northwest of Kilju, North Hamgyong Province.

The KMA said that it was a naturally-occurring quake with a depth of three kilometers, expecting no damage from the tremor. 

Including the latest quake, 114 earthquakes with magnitude of two or greater were recorded on the Korean Peninsula this year.
